Parents, teachers and administrators may appeal REACH placement for students currently in grades 3-7. The Application for Appeal is open between February 1 and March 15, and for which additional testing is required. The application and additional information can be found online at

The continued snowfall has brought with it extra challenges after school with the car lines around the building. Please wait patiently in your car for your child, be mindful of other cars and people, especially small children if you pull out of the line before it moves forward, and follow the map directions and all safety rules. We appreciate the extra care and patience!

While we cannot accommodate parent requests for particular teachers, we do value your input and hope that you will share any concerns about friendship issues and learning needs. We spend a great deal of time and effort making class placements each year, and try our best to consider each child’s needs. If you would like to share input with your child’s teacher, please do so before the end of April. Thank you!

All participants will receive a certificate; the top four in each category receive ribbons; and the tournament champions receive a trophy.

The annual Student Chess Tournament is organized by parent volunteers, many of whom coach chess clubs at their children’s schools. Contestants will compete within the rules, playing five timed matches each. Volunteer judging is performed by independent chess experts who are brought in for this event. Snacks and drinks will be donated and provided. Pizza will be sold during the tournament.
