ART CLUB – 4TH GRADE
Art Club is open to fourth grade students who have a strong interest in advancing their art skills beyond the regular art class.  The club will meet Wednesdays in the art room after school from 3:00-4:15 PM.  Art Club is a commitment.  Please be sure you are able to attend all 8 sessions.
The session will be limited to 24 students.  In the event that more than 24 students submit permission slips, a lottery will be held to fill the club.  Parents must provide transportation home for their student or sign permission for them to walk. The District requires a $10.00 fee for all clubs.  The fee will be collected at the first class and checks can be made payable to District 205.  Please feel free to email me with any questions.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for students in grades 4 & 5.  The purpose is simply to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with peers.

Meeting Dates: Introduction meeting 10/23:  Battle dates:  11/13, 12/4, 12/18, 1/8, 1/22, 2/5, 2/19 & 3/12. April will be preparing for the Cross Town Classic so date TBD.
Meeting Times:  5th grade @ 11:55 and 4th grade @ 11:25

 

CODE-I-GAMI CLUB

The Code-I-Gami Club gives students in 5th grade the opportunity to learn and develop their origami and computer coding skills.  Students will be using the ancient art of paper folding origami and working on computer coding (as per their interest).  Students will learn the basics of paper folding, working at their own pace to develop and master the creation of objects through the art of origami. The coding element gives students in 5th grade the opportunity to learn and develop their computer coding skills.
Students will be using the following websites:  code.org, codecombat.com and scratch.mit.edu.  Students will learn the basics of coding, working at their own pace to design and develop code writing ability, programs and games.

DRAMA CLUB                                                                                                                     
Do you enjoy being in the spotlight?  Then Drama Club is for you!  In this club the students will write their own short plays to perform.  After working together to write and rehearse their plays, we will have a spring performance to showcase their work.

Expectations: 
To help make this year as successful as possible, members of Drama Club are expected to be at all meetings.
A student is considered excused:

  • the student is absent from school
  • the student is working with a teacher at the teacher’s request and brings a note to us from the teacher within the school day
  • we receive a parent note explaining why the student will not be in rehearsal

Drama Club is a wonderful experience for the students, and attendance is crucial in order for the groups to write and rehearse their plays with all group members.  We need every student’s commitment in order to make it a great year together!
Actions for Absences

  • 1 unexcused absence:  one-on-one conversation with the student about their absence
  • 2 unexcused absences:  call/email home
  • 3 unexcused absences:  removal from Lincoln Drama Club

INTRAMURALS (FALL)
Who:     All Fifth Grade Students

What:    Basketball/Varied Activities

Where:  Lincoln Elementary School, meet promptly in the gym

When:   After school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:15 PM

Why:     To have fun and exercise!!!

 

The dates are:

Mondays:  October 1st, October 22nd, October 29th, November 5th, November 12th, November 19th, November 26th, and December 3rd

 

Wednesdays:  September 26th, October 3rd, October 10th, October 17th, October 24th, November 7th, November 14th, and November 28th

 

Additional Notes:

  • All students must be provided with their own transportation or given permission to walk home at 4:15 PM
  • Attendance will be monitored.  Please sent a note or contact the office when your child will not be participating in intramurals.

LINCOLN SINGERS                                                                                                          
The expectations are to help make this year as successful as possible.  Members of Lincoln Singers are expected to be at all rehearsals.  A student is considered excused from rehearsal if:

  • the student is absent from school.
  • the student is working with a teacher at the teacher’s request and brings a note to me from the teacher within the school day.
  • I receive a parent note explaining why the student will not be in rehearsal.

A student is considered unexcused from rehearsal if:

  • The student forgets to come to rehearsal.
  • The student is with a teacher at the teacher’s request but forgets to bring a note.
  • The student arrives at rehearsal later than 7:30 AM.

Choir should be a fun and exciting opportunity for everyone to learn how to work together and make beautiful music.  We need every student’s commitment in order to make it a great year together!

STUDENT COUNCIL                                                                                                       
Student Council is led by elected student’s grades  3 – 5.  Each representative represents their own classroom as well as K-2 classrooms.  Student Council’s goal is to support the Lincoln Community.  This support comes in the forms of Spirit Days, Fundraisers, PAWS Support, as well as special community projects.

Who Can Attend?  Elected students from grades 3 – 5
Meeting Dates:  Wednesdays:  10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/31, 11/14, 12/5, 12/19, 1/9, 1/23, 1/30, 2/13, 2/27, 3/13, 4/10, 4/17, 5/1, 5/15, 5/22 (the last day - celebration of student council!)
Meeting Times:  7:30-8 AM except late start days

 

SUNNY MIND YOGA CLUB

Who:  4th Grade students who are interested in learning basic yoga practices and increasing their strength, flexibility and mindfulness.

What:  Sunny Mind Yoga Club

When:  Wednesdays, September 19th through December 19th at lunch recess

Why:  Yoga for kids can help reduce stress, increase concentration & create a sense of calm

How:  The first 20 students who return permission slip along with $10.00 club fee to classroom teachers.  More students will have an opportunity to join in January.  Students must bring their own yoga mat.
